Major: Building Construction Management and Business
Year in School: Senior
Hometown: Elkhorn, WI
Besides tackling and throwing, I have learned many valuable skills from my four years on the UWP football team. Being on a team has taught me how to work with a variety of people, learn from my teammates and manage conflicts that may arise in the group. I have also learned the importance of time management — creating a balance between football practice, studying and just having fun. As a business and building construction management major, the skills I learn on the field can be applied to the situations I will experience in my future career.
When I declared my double major in business and building construction management, I knew it would be a challenge to keep up with all the credits I would be taking. By attending class regularly and fostering a good relationship with my professors, I have maintained a 4.0 grade point average. Many of my professors have worked in the fields they are teaching and share their experiences with the class to compliment textbook material. Their personal accounts are interesting and engaging, making it easy to attend classes.
One thing I have noticed about the UWP campus is that it is always improving. In the time I have been here, UWP has built a new residence hall, started to build a new engineering building, renovated Glenview Commons, the Art Building and Ullsvik Hall. UWP plans to renovate the Pioneer Activity Center, where the weight room, indoor track and other athletic facilities are located. I think these improvements are important and make the campus a more comfortable place for students to learn and grow with the university.
